A professional bra fitter is someone who determines what your proper bra size is and helps you find the perfect bras to fit and flatter your bust.

Throughout a woman’s lifetime her bra size will change six times, on average. That’s why it’s important to get a professional bra fitting every once in a while, because even though you think your big bras have stayed the same size for years, you could be wrong. Changes to your size can occur from weight loss or gain, pregnancy, or surgery, such as breast implants, breast reduction, or mastectomy.

It’s quick, easy and painless to set up an appointment for a professional fitting. Most department stores or lingerie stores have a professional fitter on-site. You can ask the desk clerk to help you locate and set up an appointment to have your big bras fitted. If they don’t have a fitter on-site year-round, they may still have a special fitting event once or twice throughout the year. Even if you don’t see signs specifically advertising that they have an on-site fitter, it never hurts to ask.

Now that you have your appointment set to have your big bras fitted, you may be feeling nervous. Don’t worry, this isn’t going to hurt and there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. These people are professionals and they will treat you with care and respect. Most likely you will not even need to go bra-less. The fitter may measure you over your current bra or just assess the fit of your current bra to determine what sizes will actually work best on you. If you are uncomfortable undressing down to your bra, many will still be able to accurately fit you even if you wear a tank top over your bra. There’s no need to feel uncomfortable, they’ve seen plenty of breasts before!

Once they have determined what size fits you, they will bring in a couple of big bras for you to try on and see what you feel the most comfortable in and what flatters your body the best, and you’ll be looking and feeling better by the time you leave.
